Meet Paxton and Jenny
"Paxton is a hard-working eighth grader, a son, a brother, and a big basketball fan. He was diagnosed with hemophilia A immediately after his birth. Since then, I made it my goal to be a positive example for Paxton and to be his fiercest advocate through it all.
As he grew up and had more basketball practice and activities, keeping track of his infusion schedule became a sport in and of itself. We organized Paxton's prophylaxis treatment schedule so that his trough days would fall on "off days," or days when Paxton didn't have an activity. But as time went on, there were fewer and fewer of those days.
Eventually, we became interested in switching to ALTUVIIIO prophylaxis, as it is the only once-weekly prophylaxis Factor VIll replacement therapy.
We worked with Paxton's doctor over a period of a few months to make sure ALTUVIIIO was the right fit for him. Paxton was excited about keeping higher factor levels for longer periods, and fewer infusion days each week meant less time on the calendar and more time for me to drive him all over town for practices.
Today, Paxton and I are happy to share that his new dosing schedule with ALTUVIIIO is working well for him. We chose to infuse every Monday so that we don't have to worry all week about when to schedule "poke days. ”
