Real ALTUVIIO patient Daniel
“College is hard enough without hemophilia, but being able to infuse on a schedule that’s easy for me to remember and work into my busy week helps me focus on the things I value the most.”

Meet Daniel

“I know that I’m lucky, as a person with hemophilia, to have been born in 2003 because I was able to start on prophylaxis at 11 months old. For most of my life, all I’d known was the short infusion cycle that I was used to—I could expect protection on the first day, but I needed to be cautious on day 2.

When I started college as a freshman away from home, it was harder for me to stay on top of my treatment. Being independent meant being responsible for remembering to infuse, ordering my factor and supplies, storing it, and keeping it safe, as well as telling people around me about my diagnosis. With this new independence, classes, rowing with the team, homework, and social clubs, I struggled to keep my every-other-day infusion schedule.

When my mom found out about ALTUVIIIO and told me about it, I wanted to talk with my doctor immediately about the weekly infusion schedule and the bleed protection that ALTUVIIIO could provide. Once I got into the rhythm of my weekly routine, I felt like ALTUVIIIO just fit into my life. I love the consistency of infusing every Friday.

College is hard enough without hemophilia, but being able to infuse on a schedule that’s easy for me to remember and work into my busy week helps me focus on the things I value the most. My ALTUVIIIO treatment routine has given me (and my mom and dad) confidence that I’ll be covered with higher factor levels for longer. Not having to infuse every other day has also given me the freedom to sleep in a little bit longer before class.”
