ALTUVIIIO is an IV prescription medicine that replaces Factor VIII in people with hemophilia A, without inhibitors. Adults, adolescents, and children can all use ALTUVIIIO to control and prevent bleeding.

IV=intravenous.

ALTUVIIIO is the only once‑weekly prophylaxis Factor VIII infusion.

ALTUVIIIO can be used for on-demand treatment of breakthrough bleeds. Ask your doctor for the appropriate dose for a breakthrough bleed.

The unique design of ALTUVIIIO keeps factor levels higher for longer as it combines 3 mechanisms to help it stay in your body longer: Fc Fusion, XTEN Technology, and vWF Fragments.

vWF=von Willebrand Factor.

ALTUVIIIO can be used as a prophylaxis treatment. This means ALTUVIIIO can be injected once a week to help prevent future bleeds. In a clinical study, the mean number of bleeds adults and adolescents experienced in 1 year was 0.7.

ALTUVIIIO can be used as an “on-demand” treatment whenever a bleed occurs. On average, just one infusion of ALTUVIIIO resolved 97% of bleeds in a clinical study.

ALTUVIIIO is administered once a week as an infusion into your vein. Your healthcare provider can instruct you on how to do infusions on your own and may watch you give yourself your first dose of ALTUVIIIO.

ALTUVIIIO is the first and only Factor VIII replacement therapy designed with added proteins that help extend its half-life in order to offer higher factor levels for longer with one weekly dose.

For most of the week, ALTUVIIIO keeps factor levels in the near-normal to normal range for adults. This range is defined as having Factor VIII levels above 40%. ALTUVIIIO stayed above 18% in adults, on average, for the entire week.

The average Factor VIII trough levels for people under 18 years were:

  • 9% for adolescents aged 12 years to under 18 years
  • 17% for children aged 6 years to under 12 years
  • 11% for children aged 1 year to under 6 years

ALTUVIIIO can be used by adults, adolescents, and children with hemophilia A. You should not use ALTUVIIIO if you have had an allergic reaction to it in the past.
